Startup life is all consuming

This deserves a longer well written post but a few of us went for drinks after work tonight to vent and found a few things we had in common:

  • We stopped doing laundry and cleaning our homes
  • We stopped paying our bills
  • We never did our taxes
  • We see each other more than our families and friends
  • We go home and watch TV but can’t remember what we’ve watched (see below)
  • We go home and immediately pull out the laptop and do not put it away before going to sleep

I didn’t ask but I suspect the others, like me, pray for rainy days so I feel better about working all night instead of enjoying the outdoors like I should be.

Side note: Tomorrow night I should be going to a work related event but decided to not go and instead play hockey. I’ve found that one reason I like hockey so much is that for at least an hour the day I play hockey I’m not thinking about working. The same can not be said for biking/skiing/sailing.

that’s why you’re making the big bucks… so you can pay people to do all those things for you. well, except the hanging with your friends part. that’s hard to pay someone to fill in for :)
