Nice and clean blogs

Thursday, June 7th, 2007

I ran into this random project request today on ‘Script Lance’, Project: Wordpress Blog on Joomla Site :

I want a blog that is nice and clean like this one.

http://blog.redfin.com/

When I work on something day in and day out I often forget about its good qualities. For instance when I look at our blog I see a hard to read non-black font on a low contrast background with a lot of blue gradient. I also see a blog that doesn’t have a comment feed that works, and I could go on and on and on. What I don’t always see is the great content and the improved design that clearly others want to emulate.

Enough blogging, back to improving our blog so more people want to emulate it :). What would you change?

Bought a house and still addicted

Thursday, January 4th, 2007

From Not Martha, on the purchasing of a home:

Like anybody who learns how to buy a house (and it is a steep learning process, at least for those of us who would rather put our fingers in our ears and sing “la la la” loudly than, say, balance a check book) I kept on reading the MLS for Seattle long after we’d stopped obsessing over what is out there. This is dangerous because of the woulda/shoulda doubts over houses listed after our purchase was legally binding. That said, I’ve been attached to Redfin Seattle blog lately and, happily, it’s making me more and more confident about the house we purchased.
